What's Required:
  • Be at least 18 years of age

  • Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language

  • Currently hold a Private Pilot license

  • Meet and log the required flight hours and requirements

  • Pass an oral and flight exam administrated by an FAA designated examiner

How long does it take?

The length of time that is required to complete a commercial pilot single engine land course depends largely on your ability, motivation to learn and the proficiency with the English language. It usually takes about four - six months to complete the Commercial Pilot airplane course if a reasonably full schedule is maintained. Along the way towards your commercial license, you will also obtain your private pilot license.

What do I have to do?
  1. Obtain an FAA private airplane pilot's license

  2. Obtain an FAA second class medical certificate

  3. Complete ground school or a home study course

  4. Log sufficient flight training.

  5. Pass an FAA written test

  6. Pass an FAA oral and flight test

What are the Commercial Pilot training requirements?

Requirements for obtaining your private pilot airplane license are as follow:

 

  • 250 hours minimum flight time as a pilot that consists of, at least:

    • 100 hours in powered aircraft, of which 50 hours must be in airplanes

    • 100 hours as Pilot-in-command flight time, which includes, at least:

      • 50 hours in airplanes and

      • 50 hours cross-country flight in airplanes (10 must be in airplanes)

    • 10 hours of instrument training in aircraft (5 must be in single-engine airplane)

    • 10 hours of training in an airplane that has a retractable landing gear, flaps, and controllable pitch propeller

    • 4 hours cross-country (2 hours day / 2 hours night)

    • 10 hours solo flight time, which includes, at least:

      • 5 hours in night/VFR conditions

    • 3 hours in preparation for the flight test (within 60 days)
