What's Required:
  • Be at least 17 years of age

  • Be able to read, speak, and understand the English language

  • Obtain at least a current third-class medical certificate

  • Receive a minimum of 40 hours of flight time including training and solo flight

  • Pass a written, an oral, and an actual flight test

How long will it take?

The length of time that is required to complete the Private Pilot course depends largely on your ability, motivation to learn and your proficiency with the English language. It usually takes about eight weeks to complete the private pilot airplane course if a reasonable full schedule is maintained.

What will I have to do?
  1. Obtain an FAA third class medical certificate

  2. Complete ground school or a home study course for your Knowledge test.

  3. Log sufficient flight training.

  4. Pass an FAA written test

  5. Pass an FAA oral and flight test

What are the official flight training requirements?

Requirements for obtaining your private pilot airplane license are as follow:

  • 40 hours minimum flight time in airplane, including:

    • 20 hours of dual flight instruction, including:

      • 3 hours of dual cross-country flight

      • 3 hours of night flight, including 100NM x-country, 10 take offs and landings at night

      • 3 hours of simulated instrument training

      • 3 hours in preparation for the flight test

    • 10 hours of solo flight time, including:

      • 5hrs of cross-country flight, including 150NM x-country.

These are the minimum requirements.
